Target's Boots & Barkley Cherries Dog Toy: A $9.99 Rubber and Rope Option for Tug and Fetch

Fruit motifs have been showing up everywhere, and dogs are now included in that trend. Target offers the Boots & Barkley Cherries Dog Toy for $9.99, a product that blends a cute look with practical play. For a dog that expects a game of tug the moment you get home, this item could become a favorite.

The construction is straightforward yet thoughtful: two red rubber cherries with a faceted surface sit on a green twisted rope that resembles a vine, complete with leaves. The rope provides a grip for tugging, while the rubber cherries bring a bouncy, chewable quality that differs from a typical ball or bone shape. Since pets are not dull, their toys need not be either.

Rubber instead of plush means this toy resists slobber and mild chewing better than a stuffed alternative, and it can be wiped down easily after it ends up in the yard. At a little over 10 inches long, it suits medium to large dogs that enjoy a toy with enough weight to swing. Some reviewers have begun putting treats into the base of the cherries, turning tug sessions into a slower, more involved snack activity, which adds enrichment to an otherwise simple toy.

One caution for dogs that chew forcefully: a few reviewers note that the rope section can fray or separate with aggressive use. Supervising play and retiring the toy if the rope begins to unravel is a good idea.

Apart from basic fetch and tug, this toy makes a genuinely attractive addition to a dog's collection if you like pet items that look good when scattered around the living room. The cherry shape is playful without being excessive, and at under $10, it is an easy add-on if you are already loading a Target cart with treats or grooming supplies.

Target frequently runs a "buy one, get one 30 percent off" promotion on pet toys and accessories, so if you are shopping for a multi-dog household or want backups for when the first one is destroyed, it is worth checking whether that deal is active before you check out.

Whether you are buying for a food-motivated dog that will enjoy the treat-stuffing trick or simply want something new to toss in the yard, the Cherries Dog Toy is a low-cost, high-fun option worth adding to the cart.
