Costco's 32 Degrees Dog Jacket: A Practical Pick for Chilly Walks

Cold mornings tend to arrive without warning. You might set out for a routine walk with your dog one day, then find yourself questioning whether the sharp air is too harsh for those early potty trips or evening loops around the block.

Cooler conditions can turn outdoor time into something less pleasant for plenty of dogs, particularly puppies, older dogs and breeds with thinner coats. That helps explain why cold-weather gear often turns into a daily necessity once the temperature falls. The new 32 Degrees Dog Jacket from Costco appears to fit that seasonal need, pairing light warmth with features that simplify heading out the door while avoiding extra weight or restricted movement.

Priced at $17.99 at Costco, the 32 Degrees Dog Jacket includes a number of details that give it more functionality than a plain dog sweater.

Its water-resistant shell is designed to slow the soak-through from light rain, snow flurries and wet sidewalks, while the light insulation provides warmth without the bulky fit that can get in the way of movement. That matters for dogs that prefer to run, sniff and explore rather than waddle in an oversized winter coat.

A notable feature is the leash hole with easy access. Instead of struggling with a harness beneath layers each time you go out, you can thread the leash through the opening and head out quickly. It is the kind of small convenience that becomes noticeable once it is missing.

Reflective trim adds another practical element. If your routine includes pre-sunrise walks or quick trips after work, the extra visibility can help your dog stand out in low light.

Costco carries the jacket in sizes from XS to XXL, so it can suit dogs ranging from small companion breeds to larger ones.

For dogs that already have a sweater collection, Aldi's colorful Heart to Tail multistripe pet sweater is another seasonal option for cooler days. And once the walk is over, Nordstrom's Puppington dog kitchen towels can carry the dog-themed feel into your home.

One feature that may not be obvious from the listing is the high collar. It helps hold warmth around the neck and also blocks cold wind that tends to sneak between a collar and coat on breezy walks.

Whether the destination is the dog park, a weekend camping trip or the usual neighborhood route, keeping a lightweight jacket on hand makes it less likely that you will skip those outings when the weather turns colder.

Rather than hurrying through winter walks because everyone is uncomfortable, you can take a bit more time letting your dog investigate every interesting leaf, say hello to neighborhood friends and enjoy the season together.
