Watch: Barefoot Woman Rushes to Rescue Owl Trapped in a Well
Riley Howard

When an owl was seen struggling to escape from an open water trough, it was clear the bird needed help. That's when Arizona Wildlife Resource was contacted. This organization, along with its volunteers, takes in animals in distress, brings them to rehabilitation facilities, constructs habitats in key locations, and educates the public on creating communities that support wildlife.
The rescue, shared on TikTok by @palomapalace on August 22, features Valerie Motyka immediately entering the well to save the owl. And she does it without wearing any shoes. Check it out!
Incredible! She acted without any hesitation to help the bird. According to the caption, this was the first instance where Arizona Wildlife Resource assisted a bird out of a well of this kind. Usually, birds are found trapped in troughs meant for cattle or horses. Given how swiftly she responded, it's surprising she hadn't dealt with an owl or bird stuck in such a predicament before. She's obviously very skilled!
Once the owl is completely dry, it will undergo a thorough veterinary check-up. Our greatest hope is that the owl has only wet feathers and can go back to its home soon.
Should you ever come across a similar scenario, make sure to contact your nearby wildlife rescue center without delay. It's understandable that you'd want to help personally, but every animal behaves differently and their reactions are unpredictable. Even this owl gave her a tough time out of fear. Let the professionals handle it, as they understand how to deal with wild animals. They can safely capture them, provide appropriate medical care, and rehabilitate them.
