Anthropologie's Halloween Offering Is a Treat for Backyard Birds

Some people insist it's too soon to think about Halloween. I'm not one of them. Anyone familiar with Anthropologie's seasonal lines knows that the standout items tend to sell out well before October arrives. I've experienced that disappointment personally, more than once.

This season, Anthropologie is offering one of the more surprising Halloween items I've come across, and it's not meant for humans. It's designed for birds.

Created by Mr. Bird, these vibrant sugar skull bird seed ornaments serve double duty as Halloween decor and a backyard snack station.

Every ornament is made by hand from a mix of safflower seeds, sunflower hearts, dried fruit, and other ingredients safe for birds. A jute rope finishes each piece, so it can be hung right away from a tree limb, shepherd's hook, or feeding station.

Since each skull is crafted individually, no two turn out identical. Your order will include one of several colorful variations, so what shows up is a small surprise.

Beyond brightening up a garden display, these ornaments give hungry birds a seasonal treat and bring a cheerful splash of color to any outdoor area.

Buyers Report They Look Even Better in Person

One customer noted the skull was far bigger than anticipated and described it as "super cute."

A different buyer enjoyed it so much that after gifting one, they purchased two additional pieces, and joked that their son refused to hang it outdoors because it seemed too attractive to put outside.

Another reviewer placed theirs outside a window their cat favors for birdwatching, and said it was a joy to see birds visiting throughout the day while the cat watched from inside.

One more shopper said they had doubts at first, but reported that the ornament showed up in flawless condition and matched the product photos exactly.

My personal favorite review was short and sweet:

"My skeleton-shaped bird food brings all the birds to the yard."

And now that tune is stuck in my head.

Who Is This For?

  • Bird enthusiasts who start decorating for Halloween earlier than everyone else.
  • Cat owners seeking a bit of window entertainment for their pets.
  • Gardeners drawn to playful outdoor decorations.
  • Anyone who believes backyard birds deserve their own holiday treats.
  • Halloween shoppers who already know Anthropologie's seasonal items disappear fast.
  • Gift buyers looking for the bird lover who already has every standard feeder.

What I appreciate is that this feels like a decoration that pleases everyone involved.

The birds get something to eat.

Your garden gains a bit of Halloween spirit.

And if you keep indoor cats, they'll likely spend hours near the window taking in all the activity.

To me, that adds up to a decorating choice that works out well.
