English Labrador Therapy Dog Calms Nervous Dental Patient in Heartwarming Clip

Dental visits tend to make plenty of people uneasy, and that's where a dog named Annie steps in. This English Labrador Retriever works as a therapy dog at a dentist's office, helping patients stay composed while they're in the chair. A clip of the pup calming one woman has people wishing every clinic had a dog just like her.

Anyone who has gone through a root canal knows how unsettling the experience can be. Having a gentle English Labrador nearby would certainly make it easier to get through.

What makes Annie so effective is her own demeanor. This English Labrador carries a remarkably laid-back energy. She doesn't seem bothered by much of anything, and even stressed-out patients at the dentist's office don't faze her. That temperament is exactly what makes her so suited to the role.

In footage shared online, the dog can be seen resting on the lap of one of those patients. Wearing a small, cute party hat, Annie clearly wasn't in a celebratory mood, but rather a cuddling one. Being held while the dentist works is something she enjoys.

"Annie the therapy dog is so calm and helps patients relax in the dental chair," text overlaid on the video states.

The pup clearly made an impression on viewers online.

"Do I have to book a dentist appointment for this? Or can I just come in?" one person wrote jokingly.

"If I had a therapy dog at my dentist I'd actually want to go," another commenter said.

"Every dentist office should offer this. I'd never miss another appointment," one person agreed.

"I've been avoiding the dentist for 10 years. If they had an Annie, I'd definitely go back," someone else commented.

The Role of Therapy Dogs

Therapy dogs differ from service dogs and working dogs in that their purpose is emotional support. They are found in settings such as hospitals, mental health facilities, hospices, schools, and nursing homes. By providing affection and companionship, therapy dogs offer comfort to people experiencing distress, and their presence can genuinely make a difference.

That's precisely why Annie is so valued at the dentist's office. Her job is to help you feel at ease.
