Toucan Figures Out How to Operate the Fridge Water Dispenser
Riley Howard

Here's something you don't come across often: a pet toucan treating a refrigerator's water dispenser like his own personal shower. The YouTube channel Chester the Toucan recently posted a clip showing exactly that, and viewers found it hard not to laugh. Birds, it turns out, can be surprisingly clever.
The caption on the YouTube Shorts video, written by Chester's mom, reads: “It’s Chester’s fridge, not mine 🤷🏻♀️.” That might make you think twice about grabbing a drink from that dispenser, though keeping a happy pet could be a fair trade.
In the footage, the brightly colored Chester keeps pressing down on the dispenser's lever, enjoying each burst of water that comes out. He appears to relish the refreshing splash, and his ability to work the mechanism is impressive. As the original post put it, he is living his best life.

The clip has found a warm reception on YouTube. As of now, it has collected more than 77,000 views, over 2,400 likes and 54 comments.
“Self-service showers are the best!” one commenter joked.
“Chester, you crazy bird. You always bring a smile to my face,” a fan wrote.
“I have to say, you must be a very patient person!” another viewer observed.
One more comment praised the channel for showcasing bird intelligence: “One of my favorite things about your channel is that you show people are smart birds really are. Most people think they aren’t smart, etc., but in reality there’s just sooo much more to them then we will ever know, and you share that with the world and I really love that.”
For more videos featuring this particularly clever bird, following Chester on YouTube is worth considering.
