Argentina Park Hosts 2,397 Golden Retrievers in Unofficial World Record Meetup

There’s a particular kind of daydream many dog lovers share: a farm overrun with golden retrievers, no business model, no practicality, just endless dogs and a happiness that can’t be fabricated. Seeing a golden retriever puppy can lift your mood instantly, even on a gloomy day when everything feels heavier than usual. A single floppy ear or an awkward little run is often enough to make the world seem easier to handle again.

So when almost 2,400 golden retrievers came together in one spot recently, it didn’t feel like just another news item. It felt like a shared fantasy suddenly made real.

On Dec. 8, exactly 2,397 golden retrievers met at Bosques de Palermo, a park in Buenos Aires, setting an unofficial world record for the largest same-time gathering of the breed in a single location. The previous unofficial record was set last year in Vancouver, where 1,685 goldens showed up. The Argentine event soon earned the nickname the Golden Wave online, and the photos explain why—an ocean of golden fur, wagging tails, and happy commotion all in one place.

The huge meetup was put together by Argentine actor, influencer, and dog lover Fausto Duperré, who brought his 10-year-old golden retriever, Oli. What began as a simple idea grew into a large-scale event, attracting dog owners from around the region who wanted to bring their goldens together for a chance to be part of something both joyful and historic.

“We Have the World Record for the Largest Golden Joint!”

Once the record was reached, Duperré celebrated on Instagram. “We made it, folks. WE ARE CHAMPIONS OF THE WORLD 🇦🇷🏆,” the 28-year-old wrote. “We have the world record for the largest golden joint! I can’t explain my happiness, I can’t explain my emotion. We made it through. Just THANK YOU ✨🏆🇦🇷.”

Although the record is unofficial, the effect was far from minor. Photos and videos from the event show dogs greeting each other like old friends, people laughing with strangers, and a strong sense of shared joy.

In a world that can often feel heavy and overwhelming, watching nearly 2,400 golden retrievers calmly gather in one place served as a reminder of what can still bring people together. Sometimes it really is that simple.

If happiness could take a physical shape, it might resemble a park filled with golden retrievers moving as one, tails wagging, totally unaware they just made history. And honestly, it may be the closest thing yet to that golden retriever farm dream coming true, even if only for a day.
