Pendleton's Knit for Pups Channels 'The Dude' in Dog Form

Certain canines were put on this earth to chase tennis balls. Others seem destined for a slower path — sprawling across the carpet, dreaming about their next bite, and savoring existence at a leisurely tail-wag pace. Pendleton had those dogs in mind when it designed an outfit just for them.
Named the Big Lebarkski Dog Sweater, this piece scales the cardigan worn by the Dude in "The Big Lebowski" down to canine measurements. The result is snug, delightfully absurd, and understated enough that fans of the film will catch on before your dog has any idea.

The design draws on Pendleton's well-known Westerley pattern, rendered here as a geometric knit in tan and dark brown. A ribbed neckline and hem give the piece its familiar silhouette, and because it pulls over the head, the legs stay unobstructed for walking, resting, and sniffing out where the treats are kept.
The fabric is 100 percent acrylic, so dogs get the signature appearance without being bundled into a thick wool cardigan. According to Nordstrom, the sweater can go in the washing machine and should be dried flat. That detail matters, since a fashionable sweater loses much of its appeal once it has absorbed mud, slobber, and whatever unidentified thing your dog rolled in outdoors.
Depending on the size selected, the Big Lebarkski costs between $59 and $75. Nordstrom suggests measuring the broadest section of your dog's chest along with the spot where a collar usually sits, then adding a couple of inches for comfort before placing an order. Doing so helps avoid a fit that looks like the sweater shrank in the dryer.
Should this particular pattern feel too niche for your companion, PetHelpful recently came across a fall-leaf dog sweater in cheerful colors at Chewy. And for dogs whose interests lean toward sports rather than bowling, Nordstrom also offers a cozy baseball team sweater.
It also works as an amusing present for someone whose home is already overflowing with dog-themed decor. Combined with Nordstrom's "Spoiled Dog" accent pillow, the living room would at last make clear who actually runs the household.
Starting at $59, this is admittedly a pricey purchase for dog apparel. Even so, it is warm, machine washable, and able to transform a routine walk around the block into a small cult classic. Your dog probably won't pick up on the movie reference — but that's just, like, your opinion, man.
