Blind Feline Ivar Becomes TikTok Sensation Thanks to His Unforgettable Facial Reactions

A new feline star may have emerged on TikTok, and his name is Ivar. His adventures appear on the account @ivartheblindcatandfamily. A clip lasting almost two minutes compiles some of Ivar’s “top ten” expressions and situations. The video begins with a series of shots in which Ivar gradually rotates his head toward the camera. His blindness causes his eyes to be unusually large, and they are also strikingly beautiful. When paired with the unhurried motion of his head, the result is content that feels both distinctive and amusing.

In the opening segment, Ivar is spending time with a second cat. Upon hearing his human parent begin to speak, he turns slowly and fixes his gaze straight at the camera. The next scene shows Ivar cleaning and grooming his paws and claws. “Sharpening your murder mitts,” his human parent says while extending a hand to touch his paws. For a cat without sight, such an unexpected touch was likely startling. Once again, Ivar swivels and looks directly into the camera with those enormous eyes.

“Let Me See That Handsome Face”

The pattern continues for roughly the following minute and a half: Ivar directs various cute looks at the camera as his human parent engages with him and the other cats in the household. What stands out is how strongly Ivar reacts to what is happening around him. In one moment, another cat repeatedly brushes Ivar with its tail by accident, and Ivar tracks each motion of that tail, rotating his head toward it as though he can truly see it.

During the last segment, Ivar’s human parent says, “Let me see that handsome face,” and Ivar promptly turns and gazes at her. “Oh my,” his human mother replies with a laugh. “OK. You are handsome, though.”

Thousands of other TikTok users likewise enjoyed the video and Ivar’s appeal, expressing their encouragement in the comments. “I love that Ivar always look like you told him some juicy gossip or he’s been offended so deeply,” wrote TikTok user @Kat. Same here, Kat. “It’s like he thinks no other cats exist, just him,” added TikTok user @JenniferLJohnson. “My face is like Ivar’s when I am in public now,” commented TikTok user @VisionFlow.

PetHelpful enjoys sharing cat videos. Among our recent favorites are three kittens getting acquainted with their new automatic feeder, and a cat that barks at her mother as if she were a dog.
